Joe Winter studied and worked with Japanese Master, Yukio Yamamoto various times between 1987 and 1999. You can see the influence this Master has in Joe's work.
Joe received a BFA Ceramics at the Northern Arizona University in '92 and an MFA Ceramics at the East Caroline University in Greenville , NC in '95.
He has participated in many shows nationwide and received awards for his work as Best of Show in 1998 at the North Tahoe Art Center and First Place at the Beaufort Co Arts Council Fine Art Show in Washington , NC .
His work is part of the permanent collection at the East Carolina University , Greenville , NC and also in the Daum Museum of Contemporary Art, Sedalia , MO.
Joe has designed and built more than 20 kilns for Raku, stoneware, wood and salt firing as well as a large anagama wood kiln with Paul Herman.
